Thais Hostel II: Owin’s Revenge
By Master Slayer / Midnight Slayer
23:58
A young elf boy swiftly dashed by Baxter who attempted to grab him by the arm to stop him, but failed. A handful of Red Legion soldiers follow in pursuit of the elf across the bridge of Royal Avenue. Terrified for his life, the elf moves in haste and turns right down the alleyway of the Green Dragon towards Main Street.
Red Legion Guard: Halt! Surrender yourself!
He is gripping the book he had just stolen from the Royal Archives tightly to his chest as he maneuvers down the alleyway and enters Main Street. Two guards are attempting to surround him from both sides. In a last attempt to escape, he flees in the direction of Harbour Street. This was a fatal mistake. As he turns down Harbour street, a Red Legion guard leans his body around the corner of the Harbour Place shop and pierces his spear through the boy’s stomach.
23:59
A gut-wrenching feeling takes over the young elf. As he looks down at the wound, the guard pulls the spear out, reveals himself from behind the wall, and stands eye to eye with the boy.
Red Legion Guard: Evading the arrest of the Red Legion is a death sentence.
The young elf collapses to the ground. His breathing becomes heavy. Blood splatters the cobblestone as he coughs it out of his lungs. His vision fades to black. Several of the Red Legion Guards have gathered around his body. As his soul is about to leave him, another enters. A voice invades his mind and whispers…
Slayer: “Wake up”
00:00
The little elf’s eyes burst into flames and he unleashes a powerful and horrific scream.
Red Legion Guard: What demonic sorcery is this?! A resurrection?!
00:01
The four guards begin to back away frightened as they witness the elf slowly stand back to his feet. Still wounded, he stares down the guard that took his life. In a quick decision, the guards flee from the scene and make their way up Temple Street heading back towards the Castle.
Red Legion Guard: Wait! One of us must inform Henricus!
The guard turns back and takes the Lower Swamp Lane route to Thais jail avoiding the demonic elf. The young elf boy on Harbour Street, still bleeding, drops to his knees. The voice in his mind speaks again.
Slayer: “The Hostel”
The elf stands back to his feet and quickly limps to the Thais Hostel a few meters away.

As the Guard reaches the Jail, he is met with a trail of blood leading out of the entrance. Henricus is standing outside with a worrisome expression.
Red Legion Guard: What happened here?
Henricus: It seems I arrived a moment too late. Kulag has been murdered.
The Red Legion Guard has now become even more suspicious of the elf.
Henricus: This was a horrifying and unnatural murder.
Red Legion Guard: Perhaps a demon?
Henricus: No no, this must have been a were-creature. I have studied these were-beasts and the marks on Kulag suggest this was a brutal and gruesome attack by one of those wretched things. I suppose he has escaped and is roaming the city now.
Red Legion Guard: Henricus, you must listen! I, and several of the Red Legion, witnessed what appears to be an elf boy possessed with demonic spirits!
Henricus: So be it then. I will call upon members of the Inquisition and see to it that these foul creatures are dealt with at once. Here, take this with you.
The Red Legion Guard accepts a vial of holy water from the blesser.
Henricus: May the Gods and the blessings of the Inquisition protect you.
The Red Legion Guard nods in appreciation to Henricus and returns to his fleet at the Castle.

The Inn-Keeper Frodo is seated at the front counter of the Thais Hostel. The sound of a bell rings as a bleeding, wounded, young, shirtless elf barges through the door of the Hostel.
Annie White steps out of the vampire brides Natalie and Phoebe's room. She turns down the hall and stands at the head of the staircase looking down to the lobby. Her eyebrows raise at the sight of the new guest.
The elf turns and slams the door shut holding the door closed with his back turned to Frodo.
Frodo: Hey! You there! Don’t bring any trouble in here, you hear me? I’ve had enough trouble for one night already!
The elf turns his head and stares at Frodo; his eyes blazing with fire. With the sound of two voices, he shouts at Frodo.
Midnight Slayer: Trouble?!
He turns his head back around and begins coughing facing the door. He shakes his head a few times, spits blood to the floor, then clears his throat. The flames in his eyes lower and transition to a bright red glow with a slight flickering.
Midnight mumbles to himself...
Midnight: no … no trouble at all …
00:04
As the elf starts to turn around again, Annie White is now joined by Natialie and Phoebe standing with her on the staircase. The elf, still holding on to his book, limps to the counter.
Midnight: I need a room, please.
Frodo is a businessman. Although he is sympathetic to the pain the little elf is experiencing, he mustn't lend out rooms for free.
Frodo: A night at the Thais Hostel will cost you 666 gold coins sir.
Midnight: I have no gold for you… please, I am wounded.. I ..
Frodo: Then I'm afraid you must find somewhere else to…
00:05
The front door of the Hostel is suddenly bashed open. Owin stands in the entrance.
Owin: It was you!
Owin points his blood dripping claws toward Natalie as remaining pieces of Kulag’s flesh fall from his paws. Midnight looks to where the hideous creature is pointing. His vision is blurry, and he has become a bit delusional from the blood loss. He sees what appears to be three princesses standing atop the staircase.
Owin: Do you realize what you have done?!
Owin notices that Annie White is alive even though Natalie associated him with her murder.
Owin: If not for you, I would have not been thrown in prison!
These thoughts infuriate Owin even further, sending him in a frantic rampage.
Owin: Your false accusations have led to the death of a guard tonight. Your life will be next!
Owin charges up the staircase leading to the vampires.
Midnight’s eyes burst to flames. He ignores the pulsating pain from his stomach wound and chases after Owin up to the second floor.
The three ladies run screaming down the hallway upstairs. They enter their room and shut the door behind them, locking it. Owin pounds his giant paws at the door. The three ladies move a dresser in front of it to hold it shut.
Midnight comes running down the hallway and attempts to tackle the wereboar. Owin is too large for Midnight to tackle to the ground. A scuffle ensues leading them both further down the hall. Owin digs his vicious claws into Midnight’s shoulder causing him to nearly faint. With the last of his strength, Midnight screams in agonizing pain as he lifts Owin a few inches from the floor and slams him through the window at the end of the hall. They both smash through the wooded frame and slam down to the street below.
The vampires heard the commotion, moved the dresser, unlocked the door, opened it, and peaked down the hall. The window was shattered to pieces with the elf and the wereboar down below. They leave the room, make their way downstairs to the front door and open it.
Midnight lays on the ground, holding his book, and barely moving. Owin regains his footing. He walks to Midnight laying on the ground, kneels down, grabs him by the hair, and bashes his head to the pavement.
Annie screams out from the entrance of the Hostel.
Annie White: Stop!!! You are going to kill him!! Please, stop!!!!
Tears start to run down Annie’s face.
Owin, holding on to Midnight’s hair, lifts his head one more time to finish him off. Midnight moves his lips and whispers with the last of his breath…
Midnight Slayer: Exevo Mas San
Annie, Natalie, and Phoebe all close their eyes, turn their heads, and slam the door of the Hostel shut. An explosion of holy fire rains down on Owin whipping and lashing at his fur, critically burning him. Owin lets out a screeching howl of excruciating pain. The wereboar retreats, stumbling and falling as he narrowly escapes down a nearby alley.
Annie peaks the door open again. Owin is nowhere in sight. Midnight lies in the street unconscious. The flames in his eyes wither out. His fingers finally let go of the book as it slips out of his hands.
Residents of Thais become curious about all the commotion.
Elane shouts out from the Paladin hall.
Elane: What’s going on out there?
Annie notices a mysterious man approaching from a far distance. She steps out to the street and picks up his book from the ground.
Annie White: We need to help him. Please! Come!
Madam Natalie and Madam Phoebe rush to the little elf’s aid. They lift him up, pull him back into the Hostel and close the door. He is barely breathing. The vampires escort the unconscious elf up the stairs and to their room.
They move Walter’s corpse from the sofa and hide him in the room’s closet. They lay the young elf down on the bed and wrap bedsheets and pillow covers tightly around his wounds to stop the bleeding. The sight of blood gets them excited but they resist their temptations.
Annie, holding Midnight’s book, turns it over in her hands. The title reads “BANOR”. She places the book on a table next to the bed and rips a ribbon from her dress. She gently wraps the ribbon tight around Midnight’s head wound.
As Midnight lay unconscious, the vampires discuss their next move.

A mysterious man enters the hostel. The bell above the door jingles and Frodo turns his attention to the door. Frodo recognizes him as Henricus. Without a word, Henricus walks to the counter and posts a parchment to the wall by the log book. He stares at Frodo momentarily, and leaves the Hostel.
Frodo reads the parchment. It is a wanted poster for the little elf hiding upstairs. The reward is quite generous. Frodo contemplates the moral conflict he is now in. The reward would be a substantial help to his business.
He ponders his thoughts alone in the lobby.

Many hours have passed. A beautiful bright morning showers Thais in early morning sunlight. Midnight opens his eyes to a dark room. A young, pale, blonde girl in a white dress is seated by his bedside. Annie notices his movement and stands to her feet.
Annie White: I knew you would come around!
Midnight is unaware that Annie is a vampire. He has never encountered one before.
Annie is in a rather cheerful mood.
Annie White: You saved us! In return, little elf, I saved your book!
Midnight turns his head slowly and sees the book he stole from the Royal Archives laying on the table next to him. He is greatly relieved.
Annie White: Umm, little elf. Can I ask you something?
Midnight nods his head in approval.
Annie White: What is your name?
Midnight: Midnight.
Annie likes the sound of his name.
Annie White: Midnight, did you steal this book?
Midnight chooses his words carefully.
Midnight: I paid for it with my life.
Annie answers in excitement.
Annie White: You died last night?! So did I! Yet, here we are! Aren’t we lucky?
Annie grins believing she found another vampire. Midnight has a look of confusion on his face.
Annie White: There is something different about you, elf. Your eyes are magical. Could you do the fire magic with them again, for me? Please?
Madam Natalie and Madam Phoebe enter the room.
Madam Natalie: Ahh! Our little savior is awake again!
Madam Phoebe: What a cutie this one! I see why Annie stays by his bedside!
Madam Phoebe winks at Annie.
Madam Natalie: Dear, why don’t you invite your new friend here to the play tonight? He can be your +1.
Annie White: You mean a date? A date to the play with the little elf boy?
Annie White blushes.
Madam Natalie: Yes! Of course darling!
Midnight: Wait.. a play? I.. I don’t know.. I don’t feel so well…
Annie White: All you need is a bit of rest. You can’t miss this play for the world dear! Everyone will be there. I heard the Blackhearts will be attending, and a few more Red Roses too!
Midnight’s confusion continues to build. Blackhearts, strange princesses, wereboars, Red Roses, and now a play. He is unable to gather his thoughts.
Midnight: You want me to go where? With whom?
Annie White: A play, silly elf, with me! Tonight at the Open-Air Theatre. You'll come with us, won't you?
Madam Phoebe: It is the least we can offer you for your bravery last night.
Midnight: What is the play?
Madam Natalie: Oh my! Haven’t you heard? It will be a fabulous spectacle to behold!
Midnight shakes his head.
They stand together, and lift theirs arms in a theatrical fashion.
Annie, Natalie, and Phoebe: A Dance with Death!
Midnight falls unconscious once again.
