I am Regin, Mayor of the village of Rosebud, a thriving community that lies on the expansive grass plains just north of Carlin. For years, we lived under the distant rule of the House of Blackheart, whose manor rests far to the south on the island of Fibula. But our village has changed. We have been granted a charter by Queen Eloise of Carlin, officially recognising our sovereignty and freedom from the oppressive hand of the Blackhearts.
This charter is not merely a piece of paper—it is the symbol of our independence and the right to govern ourselves. Yet, despite the Queen’s decree, Vaelen Blackheart, Patriarch of the House of Blackheart, refuses to accept this reality. He seeks to reclaim control over Rosebud, as though our people are mere subjects, bound to his whims and his family's distant claims to our land.
The truth is this: Rosebud no longer belongs to the Blackhearts. Our village is strong, united, and led by the will of the people, not the whims of a distant patriarch. However, the House of Blackheart seeks to tarnish our name, spreading rumours that Rosebud harbours criminals from the Crimson Hand. These accusations are baseless and nothing more than a desperate attempt to undermine our legitimate fight for freedom.
What the Blackhearts won’t tell you is how we have cast out Navi Blackheart and Kaelas Blackheart from our village, not for their names, but for their actions. The Blackhearts have failed to protect their own, and now they turn to slander and threats to regain the power they’ve lost.
Furthermore, disturbing rumours have reached our ears—whispers that the Blackhearts may be involved with dangerous cults, worshippers of Zathroth, an ancient and dark force. While we cannot verify the truth of these claims, it is enough to cause concern. Who is truly guiding the Blackhearts in their quest for control? And what price will we pay if they succeed?
We in Rosebud fight for more than just our village—we fight for the right to determine our own future, free from the shadows of ancient dynasties. We stand against the tyranny of the past, and we will not allow the Blackhearts to claim what is not theirs.
