Background Story / Origin: An adventurer’s Tale
Long ago Sal Paradis began his journey on the mainland living in Venore. Named after the literary character ‘Sal Paradise’, Sal was much like his namesake for the majority of his youth. A free spirit constantly looking for adventures and new experiences, never staying in one place for too long. Following and learning from anyone that would let him accompany them, even if it brought him to face challenges and monsters that could potentially end him. He was always excited to meet new friends and see how they lived their lives in these lands (and still is to this day), taking a piece of knowledge or a story of a grand adventure from every new friend he made and adding it to the story of his life.
Sal did his best to never make enemies in his adventures as a youth. Always slightly too young and inexperienced to join in when battles or conflicts arose in times of War. He learned quickly how to stay out of the way of those that had malicious intent, and made it his goal to never interfere or engage with those that would bring him or his comrades harm.
Sal would join several guilds and forge friendships with many amazing people over his teenage years. He was accepted as a member of a great family named ‘Hikari’ where he would meet a lifelong friend Black Falcon. A fearless knight who was as fierce in the battlefield as he was kind-hearted and filled with endless jokes to lighten the mood whenever needed. Eventually the Hikari group dissolved, but the friendships made would stay strong over the years to come. Sal continued his journey and found a new home amongst the Nightmare Knights. Learning the ways of trading from the master trader and legend Karr Chaos. Adventuring and growing his skills as a warrior with the likes of Sir Slaughter, Clubster, Wambyta, and many others that helped him along his way from youth to adulthood. These times were probably the most formative for Sal, learning the ways of diplomacy, respect, and honor. After growing in strength with the members of the Nightmare Knights and learning of great riches and opportunity from his leader Karr, Sal continued on his journey as he always did. He briefly departed the ranks of the Nightmare Knights, not due to conflict or ill will, but due to his need for new experiences. He continued to stay close with his friends and family as always, and eventually did return to his family of the Nightmare Knights. But the adventurer in him kept him from staying stationary for too long back then. He would briefly join the ranks of a group of old warriors known as the ‘Hokuten’ clan. They had recently reformed and taken a liking to young Sal. As someone who couldn’t turn down an opportunity to see new ways of living and experience adventures with as many people as possible, he accepted an invitation to join their ranks. Although his stay with the Hokuten was brief and they eventually disbanded he was grateful for his experiences and knowledge passed on from the members of Hokuten.
Dreamwalking into the future…..
Sal was welcomed back to the Nightmare Knights where he would eventually end his journey in this realm….or so he thought.
Sal felt something calling to him in another world, it was telling him he needed to break free from the current realm and to find new adventures that could never be imagined in his current state. As a member of the Nightmare Knights and a student of their ways he was given books that contained information on the Dream Realm which included clues on how to enter it. He read of a secret entrance near the plains of havoc and thought to himself that this must be what was calling to him. He did more research and eventually found his way to the entrance to the dream realm, not knowing what lay ahead he continued on his journey which included solving several riddles, puzzles, and other challenges to prove he was worthy of meeting the Dream Master.

Upon meeting the Dream Master he was granted access to the Dream Realm. Finding the bed where he would eternally slumber and experience otherworldly adventures in his dreamstate. He said goodbye to this world, thinking he would never return. Excited for what may lay ahead but also sad to leave behind so many memories and his family and friends. But he knew his time had come.
Present Day (after 15 years of Dream Walking)
Suddenly, Sal woke up from his eternal slumber…still in the Dream Realm. Not knowing how much time had passed or having any knowledge of what had happened here while he was absent or memory of his otherworldly adventures he rushed back to the Dream Master. The Dream Master informed him that he had been asleep for over 15 years and many things had changed while he was gone. Sal was transported to Knightwatch Tower and given a handful of orichalum pearls, giving him the ability to transport to his city of choice from there. Sal travelled around every city he could remember looking for any remnants of his past life and signs of his old comrades he had left behind so long ago. It seemed as if so much had changed and he was alone in a shell of the land he once knew. His former allies of the Nightmare Knights were nowhere to be found, but he was determined to find a home in Antica as he once had in his youth.
Sal spent several months learning about what had happened in his absence and was relieved to meet fellow travellers who had also experienced the days past. Sal eventually met a kind sorcerer named Kaelas Blackheart during the yearly lightbearer event. They were both looking for the sacred basin in Goroma, wanting to do their part to make sure it stays lit and adventured together to find it. Kaelas was kind enough to stop and spend time explaining to Sal how much had changed but assured him he was not alone in these lands as he had thought. He was but one of many old souls that remained. Sal spent the next part of his new journey being introduced to the members of Red Rose, a group that he knew of in his past life as allies to the Nightmare Knights, one of the oldest guilds of Antica and protectors of Fibula. Shortly after this introduction he was reunited with Black Falcon, a member of the Red Rose and one of his oldest friends who he thought had been gone from this land as well. Upon finding out about the strength that the Red Rose had been able to maintain throughout his absence and becoming close friends with several members and leaders he knew that it was his destiny to try and join their ranks.
He studied their codices, contacted their members and introduced himself and became familiar with everyone he could. He was eventually invited to their guildhall in Fibula for an interview. The interview was very intense and although the council found his taste in ice cream to be less than satisfactory…. he was invited to be a novicium of the Red Rose! Surely this day will be remembered as one of his greatest achievements in his life as a paladin.
Currently Sal is writing the next chapter of his adventures. Studying under his mentor Rye Ane and spending his days and nights working tirelessly to be the best paladin and novicium of the Red Rose as he can be. What the future may hold for him is yet to be seen…..
